Breed-Matching Lifestyle Quiz

Six quick questions about your home, activity level and family produce a ranked shortlist of breeds that genuinely fit your life — not generic suggestions.

What the quiz asks

Your home type and space, how much daily exercise you can realistically commit to, whether children or other pets share the house, how much grooming you're willing to take on, your experience level and your budget.

How matches are scored

Each answer weights breeds on exercise, grooming, trainability, tolerance of children and other pets, size and typical running costs. Breeds that conflict with a hard constraint are excluded rather than ranked low.

Answer honestly, not aspirationally

The most common cause of a mismatched dog is an owner answering for the life they intend to lead rather than the one they have. Base your exercise and grooming answers on your busiest week, not your best one — a high-drive breed that misses its outlet becomes destructive rather than merely bored.

What to do with your results

Open the full profile for each suggested breed and read the cons section first. Then shortlist two or three and run them through the side-by-side comparison to see where their needs genuinely differ before you contact a breeder or rescue.
