Editorial Policy

These are the standards we hold our own content to — sourcing, accuracy, disclosure, and how we handle corrections when we get something wrong.

Accuracy over volume

We would rather publish fewer pages that genuinely answer a question than one page for every possible search term. Every breed profile is written specifically for that breed rather than swapping a name into a template, and if we lack reliable information on a topic we leave it out until we have it.

Sourcing

Factual claims are checked against published breed standards from The Kennel Club and comparable national clubs, BVA and Kennel Club health-screening schemes and breed-club DNA requirements, guidance from the RSPCA, Dogs Trust, PDSA, Blue Cross, BVA and RVC, UK legislation including the Animal Welfare Act 2006, and manufacturers' and insurers' own published documents. We do not cite statistics we cannot stand behind or invent precision.

AI assistance, disclosed

Our content is researched and drafted with AI assistance and reviewed against those sources before publication, and our breed images are AI-generated. We do not fabricate author biographies, qualifications or testimonials.

Health, behaviour and legal content

Nothing here is veterinary, behavioural or legal advice. We never suggest medication or dosages, we recommend a vet check followed by an accredited behaviourist for aggression or severe anxiety, and we only promote reward-based training — never shock or prong tools, which UK welfare bodies reject.

Honest recommendations

We do not claim to have tested products we have not tested. Recommendations rest on published specifications, ingredient and policy documents, breed suitability and independent user feedback, and we name downsides as well as upsides.

Commercial independence

Affiliate commission funds the site and never determines rankings or verdicts. No partner pays for inclusion, position, or a changed review.

Updates and corrections

Prices, insurance products, laws and veterinary guidance change, so commercial and legal pages are reviewed at least annually. Email northxrowan@gmail.com to report an error; we correct factual mistakes promptly and note substantial corrections on the page.
